SCHOOL ART COMPETITION 2012
Even though learners will only be able to officially enter and submit their art works for the 2012 Strokes of Genius School Art competition in May of this year, now is the perfect time to start working on those art works! See below for more information about competition rules and guidelines:
-
The competition is open to any learner in Grades 10-12, who is a citizen of South Africa
-
The THEME for this year’s competition is: Our Present to the Future
-
Learners can enter in one or both of TWO CATEGORIES:
• Pencil/charcoal sketches to be drawn on paper or board
• Oil/acrylic paintings to be painted on board or canvass
-
Art works have to be a MINIMUM of 29.5cm x 21cm
-
Once the competition officially opens in May learners can enter the competition by completing an online entry form on the www.strokesofgenius.co.za web site. Entries for the 2012 competition will ONLY be received online – no mail or fax entries will be accepted.
-
Learners must only complete the entry form once their art work has been completed, as the online entry process wil require that a high resolution photograph of the learner’s art work also be submitted.
-
The closing date for entries will be Friday 3 August 2012.
And there are BIG prizes up for grabs!
THE JUDGING PROCESS:
-
A panel of judges will first select their choice of TOP 20 in each category. These artworks will be collected from the schools for further judging.
-
From the top 20 the judges will thereafter choose 12 FINALISTS per category who will each receive R2000 for their art works. The 12 finalists' art works will also be photographed for use in a 2013 Strokes of Genius printed calendar.
The eight entries per category not selected as a finalist will be returned to the schools.
-
